Collection and Use of Personal Information

Policy Statement

The collection and use of personal information by Kneehill Housing Corporation shall be in accordance with the provisions of the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act.

1. Background
   
   1. Pursuant to Sections 32 – 34 of the FOIP Act, no personal information may be collected by a public body unless:
      
      1. The collection of that information is authorized under an Act of Alberta or Canada.
      2. That information is collected for the purposes of law enforcement or
      3. That information relates directly to, and in necessary for, an operating program or activity.
   2. Personal Information must be collected directly from the individual the information is about unless exceptions apply as stated in Section 33 of the Act.
   3. When personal information is collected directly from the individual the information is about, the individual must be informed of:
      
      1. The purpose for which the information is collected
      2. The specific legal authority for the collection
      3. The title, business address and business telephone number of an officer or employee of the public body who can answer the individual’s questions about the collection.
   4. When personal information is collected that will be used to make a decision that directly affects the individual, every effort must be made:
      
      1. To ensure that the information is accurate and complete
      2. To retain the personal information for at least one year after using it so that the individual has a reasonable opportunity to obtain access to it.
2. Principles
   
   1. Departments/Programs shall protect personal information by having it in a place where there are reasonable security arrangements against such risks as unauthorized access, collection, use, disclosure or disposal.
   2. The use and disclosure of personal information will only be in accordance with the Act. (Ref. Part 1, S.28, 40, 41)

What personal data we collect and why we collect it

Donations

The information that is collected is for the purpose of issuing a tax receipt. Credit Card information is processed by Moneris and is not stored by Kneehill Housing.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
